Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads, grandfathers, father figures, and caregivers in our Lighthouse community! We see and celebrate you, not just for what you do, but for who you are.


From things like tackling the weekend routine and late-night homework help, to the quiet strength of being present even when life gets messy, your impact is felt. You’re often the steady ground, the unexpected humor, and the unspoken reassurance that everything will be okay. And whether or not you hear it enough, you’re doing a great job.


We also want to honor that fatherhood, while deeply rewarding, isn’t always easy. There are seasons of joy and connection, as well as times of stress, confusion, and emotional fatigue. The world asks a lot of parents, and many dads feel pressure to keep it all together without much space to process their own experience.


The Weight of Modern Fatherhood


The image of the modern father is changing—but slowly.


Traditionally, fathers were expected to provide financially, stay stoic, and suppress their emotional needs. Now, many men share both the emotional and financial load at home, but internalized beliefs about masculinity and mental health still persist. The result? A generation of men navigating parenting, partnership, and purpose without a map—or a place to safely fall apart.


The stress of the pandemic didn’t help. In one national survey, 30% of fathers said that managing remote learning and increased family demands had a negative impact on their mental health. Many dads felt isolated, overwhelmed, and emotionally spent, without the language or support systems to process it.
